I wrote this song for my mother in 1997, soon after my father passed away. It’s not as if I had anything left unsaid between my dad and me, but his loss made me cherish that my mom was still with me more than ever, and I wanted to tell her as much as I could within a single song.
I’m deeply grateful to be having dinner with her…tonight.
